How does the Datafile API Service work?
It sits between Datafile and your external systems. Datafile exports/updates account, stock and price matrix data to the API service. Your website/app requests that data via API, and orders/payments can be sent back through the service for import into Datafile.
What Datafile data can the API provide?
Sales ledger account data, stock availability, and customer-specific pricing from the Datafile price matrix as well as any other Datafile database that is replicatable can be provisioned to the API service.
Can the API send orders back into Datafile?
Yes.
Orders and payments can be accepted by the API service and formatted so they can be imported into Datafile.
Is this a replacement for Datafile?
No.
Datafile remains the system of record. The API service simply exposes Datafile data to external platforms and supports automated order/payment import.
What data formats are supported?
JSON, CSV, and XML are supported.
